Exploring the Arcimoto MUV electric three-wheeler

Arcimoto, an Oregon-based electric mobility company, has broadened its vehicle lineup with the introduction of the Modular Utility Vehicle (MUV), an innovative electric three-wheeler designed for a multitude of tasks, from food deliveries to groundskeeping. This unique vehicle, a diverse version of Arcimoto’s electric three-wheeler, symbolizes the company’s commitment to meeting the varied needs within the urban and industrial mobility segment.

This fresh model, like its predecessor the Deliverator, relinquishes the passenger seat for an adaptable rear cargo area, epitomizing versatility in design. As Chris Dawson, Arcimoto’s CEO highlights, the MUV aligns with customers’ growing demand for flexible, quiet, and reliable electric vehicles for daily, round-the-clock needs, emphasizing sustainable and cost-effective solutions for a range of operations.

The MUV is available in three distinct loadspace configurations to accommodate different operational requirements across various sectors such as agriculture, construction, and e-commerce fulfillment centers. The base configuration, known as the Carrier, is priced at $23,500. It includes an open rear bed of dimensions 40.1 x 33.5 inches, a low deck height of 28 inches, and can carry a maximum weight of 300 lb (136 kg).

For a slight additional cost of $299, the Utility package offers a 39.2 x 31.9-inch pickup bed. The third option, the Cargo package, priced at $1,500, provides a 25 cubic feet box, capable of handling up to 240 lb (108 kg) of goods. The MUV allows easy conversion between these packages, taking less than 10 minutes, thereby ensuring it adapts to the evolving needs of businesses swiftly and efficiently.

Besides the various loadspace configurations, the MUV also accommodates numerous add-ons such as half-doors, seatback organizers, and different seating options, further amplifying its versatility.

In terms of performance, the MUV, built on the familiar three-wheeler electric platform by Arcimoto, boasts a dual-motor front-wheel drive that allows it to reach a top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h). The vehicle’s 18.1-kWh Li-ion battery assures an extensive city range of up to 102 miles (164 km), diminishing to 66 miles (106 km) at 55 mph (88.5 km/h), and 32 miles (51.5 km) at 70 mph (112.6 km/h). Charging is also uncomplicated with a Level 1/2 integrated charger, where a full charge takes about 12 hours on a 120-V outlet or just 3.5 hours at 240 volts with optional EV supply equipment.

The MUV’s technical specifications also include three 15-inch wheels, equipped with 4.5-inch-wide front and 5.5-inch-wide rear ContiEcoContact EP tires. It features hydraulic disc brakes, dual A-arm front suspension, and a rear swingarm, ensuring stability and safety in various driving conditions.

The MUV features a flat bed and offers an optional Utility package, transforming it into a vehicle with a 39.2 x 31.9-inch pickup bed.

In terms of dimensions, the MUV measures 113 inches in length, 61 inches in width, and 65 inches in height, with a 5.5-inch ground clearance, providing ample space and maneuverability for various tasks and environments.

In essence, Arcimoto’s MUV electric three-wheeler is a testament to the company’s innovation in creating versatile, sustainable, and cost-efficient electric vehicles for a diverse range of applications. With its multiple configuration options, impressive performance capabilities, and reasonable pricing structure, the MUV stands as a valuable investment for businesses and individuals seeking practical and eco-friendly mobility solutions.
