Now you can pedal a Mini – discover the limited-edition E-Bike 1

In the year 1959, the Mini automobile was launched, making an indelible mark in the world of cars. To honor this occasion, the Mini motor company has unveiled its inaugural ebike, the Mini E-Bike 1, with only 1,959 units available. This piece will delve into the specifics of this special edition ebike, highlighting its various features and functionalities that set it apart in the burgeoning electric bicycle market.

The Mini E-Bike 1 is the outcome of a collaboration between Mini and French company Angell Mobility. The ebike’s design is a modified version of Angell Mobility’s own ebike, resulting from a partnership between entrepreneur Marc Simoncini and designer Ora Ito based in Paris. The E-Bike 1’s structure comprises an aluminum frame and a carbon fork, offered in two different sizes and configurations, S (small) and M (medium), with 1,959 units for each frame size available for purchase. Potential buyers can opt for either Ocean Wave Green or Vibrant Silver as the color for the frame’s three-coat duotone paint job.

A 250-watt rear hub motor is embedded within the E-Bike 1, allowing riders to reach a top electric-assist speed of 25 km/h (16 mph). The motor provides three assistance levels, and on a single 2-hour charge, riders can traverse up to 40 miles (64 km) on this ebike. This feature makes the E-Bike 1 suitable for both short commutes and longer journeys.

The E-Bike 1 further enhances the riding experience with a built-in 2.4-inch touchscreen on the one-piece handlebar/stem. This screen displays crucial information such as assist mode, current speed, battery life, and distance covered. This integration ensures that riders have all essential information at their fingertips, allowing for a smoother and more informed riding experience.

Security is paramount with the Mini E-Bike 1. An antitheft system is integrated into the ebike, which can be activated via a dedicated smartphone app. This system locks the drive system, triggers an audible alarm, and flashes lights if the bike is moved while the system is active. In case of theft, the GPS coordinates of the E-Bike 1 can be tracked using the same app, providing an additional layer of security for owners.

Additional features that augment the E-Bike 1’s appeal include four LED turn indicators, a Brooks saddle and grips made without leather, and 27.5-inch wheels with aluminum alloy rims. Practical components such as a kickstand, mudguards, and chain guard are also included, making the E-Bike 1 a comprehensive package for prospective ebike owners.

In terms of pricing, the Mini E-Bike 1 is open for preorder at a cost of €3,490 (around US$3,716). While the price tag is considerable, the limited availability, distinctive design, and a host of advanced features establish the Mini E-Bike 1 as a compelling option for those seeking a unique ebike experience.
