Rattan Quercus: A powerful dual-battery cargo ebike for heavy hauling

Rattan, a manufacturer known for its fat-tire electric bikes, has recently launched the Quercus, a rugged cargo eBike designed to meet the needs of commuters, shoppers, and those looking for an eco-friendly and convenient transportation option. The Quercus is notable for its dual-battery system, impressive load capacity, and advanced features that make it a standout in the cargo eBike market.

The most remarkable aspect of the Quercus is its dual-battery configuration. The primary battery is a 960-Wh, 80-mile (128-km) UL-certified downtube battery composed of high-quality Samsung 21700 cells. This battery can be augmented with a range extender, enabling the bike to achieve over 100 miles of travel between charges. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who need extended range without frequent recharging.

Powering the Quercus is a robust 750-W hub motor, which can peak at 1,200 watts. This provides the bike with 80 Nm (59 lb.ft) of torque, making it exceptionally capable of tackling steep inclines. The top pedal-assist speed reaches up to 30 mph (48 km/h), facilitated by a responsive torque sensor in the bottom bracket. The bike also includes a thumb throttle for added power and a Shimano 8-speed gearset for diverse riding conditions.

Optional front and rear baskets are available for safely carrying groceries or your pet dog.

In terms of design, the Quercus is built around a durable non-folding step-through frame, making it accessible and sturdy. It features a hydraulic suspension fork offering up to 80 mm of travel, adding to its comfort and stability on various terrains. Despite its solid build, the eBike weighs 82 lb (37 kg) and can carry a total weight of up to 450 lb (204 kg), including the rider. This high load capacity makes it suitable for various carrying needs.

The bike is equipped with 20-inch magnesium alloy wheels, complemented by 4-inch-wide Kenda fat tires for excellent traction and stability. Safety is enhanced by hydraulic disc brakes with 180-mm rotors, providing reliable stopping power.

For convenience, the Quercus includes a color LCD display mounted on the handlebar for easy monitoring of the bike’s status. It also features a USB charging port for mobile devices and is equipped with an integrated high-intensity headlight and tail-light with turn signals, ensuring safety in different lighting conditions.

The Quercus cargo ebike features a responsive torque sensor, a 1,200-W peak hub motor, a low-step frame, and a 450-lb carrying capacity.

The Quercus is currently available for purchase in either green or gray. The pricing is set at $1,849 for the single-battery model and $2,499 for the dual-battery variant. With these features and pricing, the Quercus positions itself as a competitive and appealing option in the cargo eBike market, offering a blend of power, versatility, and environmental friendliness.
